Why FreeStyle Exists.

 FreeStyle is a creative community built for artists, writers, and storytellers who didn’t see themselves reflected in the traditional paths of the industry, especially for those who are still figuring it out — and choosing to create anyway.

We believe growth is part of the story, not something to hide.

FreeStyle's purpose is to encourage and support creators at every stage of their journey — especially those who are still finding their voice, art style or direction.

We believe creativity doesn’t require permission, polish, or pedigree.
We believe "learning as you go" can be part of the process.
And we believe growth should be visible, celebrated, and shared.

Who Is FreeStyle For?

For a Community

FreeStyle is for the creators who are still becoming the person they envision.

It’s for artists, writers, and storytellers who feel the pull to create — even if they don’t yet know where they fit, how far they’ll go, or what the finished version looks like.

It’s for those who didn’t come up through traditional pipelines, but still move forward with passion.
Those who may be self-taught, learning out loud, or building as they go.

For Creators

If you’re sketching in the margins, writing late at night, or teaching yourself one page at a time — you belong here. 

For Educators and Librarians

We believe in:  

  • Stories. - can be used for learning
  • Learning.- is a part of growth
  • Growth - takes nurturing and patience

  • Seeds.- will produce a bountiful harvest, in time

We didn’t arrive polished. 

We didn’t arrive invited. 

We arrived because something deep inside our heart burned with desire. 


FreeStyle Comics exists for the creators who live in that space. The ones who didn’t see themselves reflected in the gatekept halls of the industry. The ones who were told, directly or quietly, that they didn’t quite fit.


We remember what it felt like.


Imagine the comic book industry is high school and it's lunch time. There are lots of tables, many seats are taken, but where will you sit? Who's path will you attempt to follow? And don't forget, there are people who decide who’s in and who’s out. 


And then there’s the moment everyone hears about. The fight after school. Three o’clock. Who will show up? 


Some people show up looking for a spectacle. Some people don’t show up at all. And some people stand there wondering how they even ended up part of it.  


FreeStyle was built for the ones who didn’t want to fight — but also didn’t want to hide anymore. For the creators who chose to keep showing up, comic book in hand, sketchbook in backpack, ready to show anyone who was interested, "something cool."  


We believe creativity doesn’t need permission. We believe there is no single right way to draw, write, publish, or dream. We believe stories don’t have to come from pedigree — they come from passion and persistence.  


The “Free” in FreeStyle means "free to create" in your own way. Free to learn out loud. Free to make mistakes. Free to build something honest.  


We are not here to replace the industry. We are not here to fight it.  


We are here to stand beside the creators who are still finding their footing. To offer encouragement instead of judgment. To share what we’ve learned. We do not pretend we have all the answers, but we will find them out together.
